I had my wisdom teeth all removed last Monday Jan 18 .Today is Sunday Jan 24. I can open my mouth a little but when I try to open it, it hurts a bit. I can only brush the teeth in the front and the front of my tongue. What I can do to clean my breath?? I can’t stand stinky breath anymore!

It’s very easy actually. Do NOT use mouthwash because all that garbage dries out the tissues. Hydrogen peroxide kills only about 30% of the germs and damages the tissues. Toothpaste with fluoride damages the body. Toothpaste with sodium lauryl sulfate opens the pores in the mouth and allows bacteria to get into the tissues.

The very best thing is to do what the ancients did and was very wonderful. It won’t hurt you in anyway and will make your gums healthier, give you great breath and not harm you in any way.

It is called "oil pulling." It’s a primitive way of cleaning the mouth. Get some coconut oil and put a teaspoon of the oil in your mouth and swish it around for 2 minutes. It will mix with saliva and pull all the bacteria, virus, fungus, parasites out. After two minutes, spit it out, don’t swallow it because it contains all the garbage you don’t want in your body.

Then brush your teeth with a toothpaste that does not have fluoride or sodium lauryl sulfate like, Peelu or another brand.

The coconut oil contains Lauric acid that kills bacteria and caprylic and capric acids that kill fungus. Coconuts are used to make these antibacterial and antifungal drugs.

You will be amazed at how well this works for you. It’s simple and cheap. To remove any pain you are having, get some oil of cloves and put that on where it hurts and it will take all the pain away quickly. You can also swish some Scotch Whiskey around the area and it will also take the pain away quickly as well.

good luck

I had my wisdom teeth out a month ago. Recently I have started to have pain in my bottom molars. The pain is still in my tooth, but is starting to spread to my gum, cheek, and part of my neck. My jaw is a little swollen also. Is it possible that this pain is related to my teeth extraction? Also, is there a way to soothe the pain?

I HAD THE RIGHT SIDE OF MY WISDOM’S REMOVED 7 YEARS AGO BUT HAVE HAD PROBLEMS AFTER EATING DORITOS AND OTHER SHARP EDGED CHIPS AND CRACKERS.AND HAVE ONLY FOUND RELIEF BY EATING SOFTER FOODS.NOW KEEP IN MIND I HAVE NEVER HAD A CAVITY OR ANY OTHER PROBLEMS BUT IT SEEMS THAT THE ONLY RELIEF IS TO BRUSH HARD UNTIL YOU REMOVE THE PROBLEM AND STAY AWAY FROM THE FOODS THAT MAKE YOU THIS WAY

Thursday I’m getting all 4 of my wisdom teeth out. 3 of them are impacted, completely horizontal and touching my other molars. The 4th one is partially out. I’m incredibly nervous and anxious about this procedure. I know I’m undergoing Intravenous Conscious Sedative, but I’m still nervous about all of it. How long can I expect to be in pain after the procedure? And how long should I expect to be eating soft foods for?

I had all 4 out. 2 were horizontal and impacted. I only needed 1 pain pill, as the pain was not too bad. I ate nothing but smoothies for about 2-3 days. I then began eating mashed potatoes, oatmeal, and soup. The swelling was mostly gone in approximately a week. The extraction sites still ache minimally on occasion. Holes with stiches healed very quickly. Top took a little longer.

I’ve been following the order of things, Ice packs all day yesterday and last night, and warm wash cloths/salt water rinse today and my pain has gone down significantly. I’m only concerned because my swelling has increased. My jaw bone seems to be about 25% larger this morning than when I went to bed last night. Is that normal? How long is normal for swelling to go on?

You can use it at any time after an extraction, the only thing is, you should’nt swish real hard or spit until the site is healed, so that you don’t get a dry socket, that is the only reason I can see why you would want to wait, other than that, my doctor says to brush and clean as normal, your body heals fast, you should’nt have to "baby" it more than a day or so, im my opinion!!!

I know I have heard of a few people who have, but I have a really strong stomach and I know people in my family have not gotten sick from anesthesia. I have to get my wisdom teeth out probably this summer, and I hate throwing up so I was just wondering if that’s usually the case when you’re coming out and walking to the car. Thanks!

No, vomiting is NOT common. Ask you dentist whether you should eat first, but it is generally recommended that you should eat something before your surgery. After your surgery stay in the waiting or recovery area awhile to make sure you feel ok before going to the car. Don’t expect to run and skip out to the car– just walk slowly. Also the comment about blood in your stomach– well in surgery for one thing it really doesn’t bleed that much, and for another thing the assistant is suctioning blood and saliva so you are not swallowing it. After surgery you are biting on gauze pads, so again, you are not swallowing blood. Some people feel nauseous just because they didn’t eat anything and have low blood sugar plus they have been very nervous. Since you say you have a strong stomach I think you sound like a very practical person. Those people always do just fine.

It’s a little difficult to really know what you are describing without seeing it but…
The white skin maybe dead surface tissue sloughing off. It will eventually be completely gone. (It may be food or debris stuck in the socket or even a disolvable suture).

The dark line maybe a blood clot. They are very dark red, but almost black-looking if you don’t shine a bright light on it.

I’m suffering from damage done to a sensory nerve during a wisdom teeth extraction surgery a little over a week ago. My bottom gums, bottom lip, and most of my chin are completely numb. I’ve learned that the timetable for recovery is anywhere from a few weeks to a few years. My oral surgeon told me it is too soon to tell if it will be permanent. If you have suffered from this type of injury, how long did it take you to make a full recovery? Is there any medication or treatment that might aid in repairing the nerves? My OS doesn’t seem to want to tell me anything, and it’s frustrating.

Nerve injury during an extraction, though rare, does happen. It is, in most cases, due to no neglegence of the dentist. When tooth roots are close to the mandibular nerve on the lower jaw, sometimes it is difficult to remove the tooth without bruising the nerve. Most dentists, especially an oral surgeon, have patients read over and sign an informed consent stating this, BEFORE surgery.

The only treatment that I have have ever seen to speed up the process is when a dentist I worked for used a machine called a Periolase on the patients jaw. Though its true use is to treat periodontal disease, it has been proven to help with this numbness after oral surgery. I had a patient have the same numbness happen to her, and after about 3 treatments with this machine, her feeling came back. These machines are few and far between but you might check around. Probably the reason he doesn’t seem to want to tell you anything, is because he really can’t tell you anything. There hasn’t, as far as I have ever heard, been a way to speed up the nerve healing. He is right. It can be a few weeks to a few years. You just can’t tell.
