How much should a dental crown cost without insurance?
I’ve already had a root canal on two teeth in the back, but I think my dentist is trying to rip me off by charging me $1000 per crown and he knows my insurance won’t cover it.

It depends on the dentist and where you live. My last crown was about $800. I’d ask for a huge discount if you pay cash at the time of the visit!

Ours cost about $1200-1400 insurance price; we had to pay half of that so it sounds like you’re getting a deal.
