    Just checking out these postings, and the reason people are calling you out on the timing, is because the sketch is rather unique and the timing is plotted out and well placed and considered, by fans of this era, genious. It is understood that it is vastly different than modern timing. These concepts change every decade probably! Until someone sees several things from an era to compare its hard to make accurate judgments. Fans of such things, will be offended :)

  9. The timing issue …
    The timing issue may have had somewhat to do with crossing over from the Vaudeville stage where one has to wait for laughter and applause and taking it to a relatively new medium film. Ten years later the dialogue in comedies is said at the speed of light. But I love Field’s surreal-ness. And the smooth way in which he often times does complicated balancing and juggling tricks like they’re nothing.
