Why are many American dentists and doctors very amateurish?

I have seen many US doctors and dentists and I can tell you their equiptment is literally dated by at least 10-20 years. Are they CHEAP? Their diagnostic and treatment abilities are pretty pathetic also. IS it the poor educational level? After all, this is 2008 and the American education has crashed over 20 years ago. There are good doctors and dentists BUT this is about the majority: poorly trained and ineffective. To be forgiving, it must be added that part of the reason is that the HMOs put tremendous pressure on the medical care system to operate like an assembly line.

Have you been to Europe?
If had been, you might be thinking differently.
Maybe if you saw a doctor in a really small town, they might have had old equipment, but I’ve always found that most doctors in the U.S. have newer equipment, and are not in any way amateurish. The only thing I hate about them is that you end up waiting to see them longer than the actual consultation takes.
Where you got this impression, I don’t know. There are still people lining up to come to the U.S. for medical treatment that couldn’t be done in thier own country. I’ve even met people from places like England, France, etc.. who’ve came here for surgery, or cancer treatment, and other things.
That’s what makes me think you are jumping on the bandwagon to trash talk Americans. How original.
As far as the education goes, the college & university education in the U.S. is still among the top ranked in the world. The area of education that has "gone south" in the U.S. is the public education k-12.
Don’t believe me? We have 7 out of ten of the worlds best universities. Who ranked these findings? The LONDON Times. How bizarre.

  1. HMO’s shouldn’t have any effect on how you’re treated at a medical visit… it’s called ethics. While there are some doctors/dentists who prefer quantity over quality, there are many more who actually take care of thier patients.

As far as being ‘poorly trained and ineffective’, doctorates aren’t just handed out at random…. it takes alot of hard work, sweat and tears to get one.

Do you buy, live in, and sell your million dollar estate for a more updated one? Do you do the same with the car you drive? How about your spouse… updated every few years or so?

This question, or lack of, made me laugh…..as did the rest of, which is ALL of, your negative questions and answers posted on YA.
