    I got my wisdom teeth out a few days ago. Went in to see my surgeon yesterday because I was experiencing really, really bad pain. Turns out I’ve got dry socket on the lower right side. Its horrible. That medicated gauze thing hurt like going in, and I’ve still got this absolutely repulsive taste that I can’t seem to get rid of. In general, the pain isn’t much better. :/

    I had a broken bone. I now have two dry sockets. I would trade them for a broken bone in a heartbeat.

    I had all four wisdom teeth extracted three weeks ago. Durring the three weeks, I didn’t eat any solids. I wanted the sockets to get filled with new repairing tissue. After waiting that long, I was so happy to eat normal now and my mouth is almost done healing. I take eating and talking for granted now.

    believe it or not, if you don’t have that water squirter thing, a SMALL hair pin works really good for fishing out food items as well.

    haha i went through all that too. I got two dry sockets, the bottom two sockets. it sucked. :( especially when they packed them full of the medicated gauze stuff. ugh, worst pain i’ve ever felt in my life.

    It looks to me as if you are flushing blood clots out of the sockets.

    Blood clots are red for the first 2 days and after that are white.

    If so, this is not a good thing to do.

    They need to stay in place for the socket to heal promptly. Eventually they will be absorbed as the socket closes up.

    Better to do nothing than try to flush them out.

    I could be wrong though – I am just going by my own experience….

    If your dentist does not give a syringe, you can use a plastic bag with a small hole poked through and squeeze, It works, but it takes a LONG time to rinse everything thoroughly. The holes should heal over and close properly within about a month. But dude, this video still makes me kinda nauseated…

    How long did it took for your «sockets» to close? I’ve got a dry socket on my lower jaw when my dentist removed my wisdom teeth, and two weeks later, there is still this big hole in my gum that I must wash with a seringe and salt water . :( It takes forever to close and it hurts… :’(

    lol this isn’t dry socket!! hahah, it’s just a thing to keep your gum clean so it can close faster!! hahaha they gave it to me today. it was cool!! ahhaha!!! and it’s just warm salt water!! hahaha but the cleaning part of it WAS disgusting!! hahahah!!! woops..gotta do mine now! lol!!

    Im 14 and I got my bottom wisdom teeth out on Firday the 12th of June because they were block my 12 year old molars from growing in and on Sunday -Tuesday (today) I kept having this extremely bad pain, turned out I had a dry socket and an infection! Man did it hurt when they were cleaning the socket, talk about a lot of pain from the socket and infection. Getting wisdom teeth out suck horribly!

    Gross! Second day of having my wisdom teeth out and have discovered a dry socket on my lower jaw. Have been rinsing my mouth out with diluted chlorhexidine after every meal (which has been consisting of yogurt and icecream :-D ). Not looking forward to using the syringe technique in a few days time. Make sure to take codeine or ibuprofen before the pain sets in!
