How to change out dry socket treatment. make your dry socket feel better!

Ok people here ya go. I have a dry socket and had to go to the dentist to get it seen about, but i went all weekend dealing with it and through a LOT of research (because there’s NOTHING online about this stuff) I found out how to make it feel all better so here’s that info for you!

Dry socket treatment from your dentist is usually FREE, it doesn’t take a long time, but most of you don’t take the time to figure that part out so this is what you need to do.

  1. Making it bleed …
Making it bleed helps. The dry socket I had last week did not finish healing till I made it bleed (by mistake, when I removed a splinter). To-day I found out that this is done, so I did the right thing by mistake. Since, I had mymy third tooth pulled, with my third dry socket. It is Christmas-day, and I have no clove oil or toothache-kit. Zinc-cream works, according to the web-sites, and I have some. Sucking to make it bleed hurts; I will try the edge of the spout of the syringe.

3:30AM, and I have this utterly disgusting taste of cloves in my mouth and it is upsetting my stomach. Atleast the pain is relieved, but I have absolutely no clue what to do about this constant taste, because I am supposed to keep the dressings in for another week!! Do you have any suggestions?
    P.S. Character counts suck!!!! :p

  3. to die. I went to …
to die. I went to go get a second opinion that very day, with a different oral surgeon. He looked in my mouth stating I had two very severe dry sockets on the bottom, and that the other surgeon must have been blind to not see them.He squirted them out and muck and gunk came out. Then he packed me with this clove paste twice in a two day period. He mentioned to me that the dry sockets probably started around the third day after the extraction(I am so upset with the other surgeon). But now it’s

  4. I had all four of …
I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed on the 25th of November. It has been…nine days today. I went to my oral surgeon 5 days after the extraction for a checkup to see how I’ve come along after the procedure. He looked and said I was fine and on my way to healing. After shooting me up with a strong numbing agent because of the pain I had been having, I went home. A few days later, being a week from the procedure, I still was not recovered. I had severe pain to the point where I just wanted

  5. the initial …
    the initial procedure.

let us know what happens because people need to be educated about dry sockets and this video and comments helps everyone :)

good luck and we’re all rootin for you!

  6. repeat, DOESN’T …
repeat, DOESN’T cost anything and it does not hurt either. i know what i just said might sound gruesome but it’s not and it’s a really quick process.

in any event, please PLEASE get to your local dentist or try and get back to the surgeon that did the procedure. they can make an appointment to do dry socket treatment if that’s what it is because dry socket treatment takes such a short amount of time that you’re in and out and i’m not sure if a local dentist would do it if they didn’t perform

  7. go in and use …
go in and use suction to make the socket bleed again (blood filling in the socket is what forms the clot that starts the healing process) and once the bleeding starts, they take the clove oil solution mixed with a clotting agent that immediately makes the pain go away and it also helps the clot begin to form quicker. there’s no way to do this on your own.

however, i’m not totally sure that what you have is a dry socket. if it is then you’re going to HAVE to get it treated. the treatment doesn’t

  8. ok i’m going to try …
ok i’m going to try as best as i can to answer your question but i need to make one thing extremely, undeniably clear. i am not a doctor and i am not a dentist. i have no background in any medical industry so all i’m doing is providing advice.

with that said, a dry socket can’t just heal by itself. it needs a bit of a “push” if you will. that “push” comes in the form of dry socket treatment that your dentist gives you. what they do is they clean out the wound with hydrogen peroxide, then they

  9. I am having to …
I am having to depend on my negligent significant other to do the talking for me, I can’t move my mouth as all because the cheek gaps the wound open. I say negligent because he forgets, meh. My oral surgeon is in Chicago a state away and they don’t call back :/ And none of the ones around here will touch it. I’m in a little bit of pain, can’t eat though, not sure how to keep anything from getting in there :( How long does a normal dry socket usually take to heal? Thanks for your response :)

  10. oh wow that’s a …
oh wow that’s a tough one! I honestly have no clue how long it will take to heal but if it’s as bad as you say it is, I would unquestionably get in touch with the oral surgeon. That sounds like an emergency to me.

Now take back what I just said if you’re not in pain and if you can eat and function normally.

Have you called your surgeon about it yet?

  11. You’re a hero to a …
You’re a hero to a lot of people. My dilemma is both my left wisdom tooth extraction sites are exposed. Since the teeth were impacted I had them cut out through my cheek a lil on the inside, so my cheek was stitched to my gum as being part of the incision. On day 11 when brushing my teeth, and the flesh painlessly separated, I have a HUGE layer of the side of my jaw exposed… and my oral surgeon is in another state…and no one local wants to bother with it. How long until it heals?

  12. I had 2 wisdom …
I had 2 wisdom teeth pulled 9 days ago and after the 4th day, I started experiencing some pain. After seeing your video and reading some comments, I have come to the conclusion that my condition is not dry socket because I can treat this discomfort with ibuprofen and prescribed hydrocodone. I’m guessing that it may have something to do with these steroid tabs I’m taking for my wrecked thumb tendon. I don’t guess it’s allowing me to heal very quickly.

  13. 9 days into my dry …
9 days into my dry socket condition, I’m glad to see this video. My dentist here in Ireland told me I should wash out with salted water, and ‘let nature take it’s course’. The pain has been horrific! I guess my dentist never experienced dry socket!

I discovered clove oil, thanks to the internet, and rinsing with Dentyl Mouthwash (clove variety) helps. Wish I could get my hands on one of those clever syringes! And if I’m ever in the States again, I’m heading straight for Walgreens!

  14. I just bought the …
I just bought the kit off ebay for $5 total. I have a cavity that needs to be crowned and a cavity in one of my wisdom teeth * all 4 will be removed soon*

  15. LOL! yes well, that …
LOL! yes well, that is great for a toothache, but a dry socket isn’t a toothache. it’s when your jawbone is sticking out in open air. pain killers can’t touch it because it’s pain on a completely different level…

but hell, a pill that strong would certainly knock you out and you wouldn’t be worried about your tooth then…but it won’t fix a dry socket unfortunately

  16. i still say …
i still say oxycodone 30 mg is the best toothache medicine

  17. right on! i’m glad …
right on! i’m glad you feel better. tell your friends! :)

    dude….you’ve my life man.
I have to experience 3 weeks of before I saw this video but now thanks to you I’m ok.

  19. wow i’m surprised …
wow i’m surprised they were too big.usually the sockets left behind by a molar extraction are just the right size for those cotton balls.

are you sure that the clove oil was what was doing that to you? i’ve heard that some people are alregic to the liquid inside the bottle, but nothing about it eating away flesh. i haven’t done enough research on it but i suppose it’s possible.

i hope your healing goes well and you get feeling better soon! it’s always so nice to see people post good comments

  20. yes! painkillers …
yes! painkillers didn’t help me, the clove oil and anbesol were the only relief i could get.

  21. those cotton balls …
those cotton balls in that kit were too big to fit in my socket, i had to make my own tearing apart regular cotton balls. so glad i’m healing finally healing, that clove oil was eating the flesh off the inside of my cheeks!

  22. my dentist failed …
my dentist failed to let me know that being on birth control pills would leave me susceptible to dry socket, especially on a bottom tooth. things like this aren’t always within a person’s control. you shouldn’t tempt fate.

  23. wow thanks a lot …
wow thanks a lot for posting this video. i’m actually going to the dentist tomorrow anyways, but could have REALLY used this video 2 days ago. i’ve only been surviving through the pain with my prescribed vicadin LOL. great video
