My Dental Nightmare

I had them pulled this week.

It’s all a rich tapestry. A bloody, boney, festering tapestry of mental anxiety and, consequently, comedy.

    Yeah, I’ve moved …
Yeah, I’ve moved back to Florida, so I definitely will be seeing a different dentist this time.

  2. Good video but …
Good video but that’s my biggest beef with dentist. They’re happy to see you when you need dental work done, they’re cracking jokes and acting you’re important. Once they’re done and collect their money, you don’t exist. I’m glad you’re better now but if you need further dental work, go see another dentist.

    I follow the blood …
I follow the blood type diet, and it says that people with blood type “A” have thick blood that doesn’t flow as well, so that might be why it didn’t flow as well into the socket. You might try aspirin.

  4. lmao@crap …
lmao@crap information….i have dry socket and it hurtssssssssss

  5. for real dentist …
for real dentist are the most stupid people on trying to give information with out asking i didnt even get a sarenge or how ever you spell it. so i hope i dont get a dry socket

  6. Dude, I can so …
Dude, I can so relate to you when you talk about never getting “critical” information in life. I always get crap info, too. I had a tooth pulled about 3 weeks ago and it’s still sore…plus it still has a bitter taste and odor. I called the dentest and they said that’s normal and won’t write me out anymore pain pill nor antibiotics. Plus, I never even got that angled syrenge you were talking about. So, I feel your pain.

    Well, I started …
Well, I started taking this immunoglobulin powder in water to ward off infection, and then my left side started healing real fast, but my right side took much longer.

The dentist told me on a follow-up visit that it should take around three months or maybe a little longer for the socket to completely close up.

  8. Yep no straws and …
Yep no straws and no spitting and she also told me i could rise but be gentle with a capitol G. question I now know that with no clot the healing is delayed….for how long will it take before the hole closes and is healed? days, weeks months?

  9. TheLogicJunkie on March 11th, 2010 at 2:40 am

    Well, did they tell …
Well, did they tell you to not use a straw when drinking, after the extraction? Because using a straw puts a negative pressure in your mouth that is essentially a vacuum, and it causes the clots in the sockets to pull out, and leave them dry.

Also, I follow the blood type diet, and one thing the creator of that diet says is that certain blood types tend to have thicker blood, so they may have a harder time bleeding out into the socket to form the clots in the first place, causing dry socket.

  10. Just came back from …
Just came back from my post checkup and yep I have that dreaded dry socket!! after she pocked and forcefully proded the area to stimulate bleeding again, she then packed the hole with two small gauze soaked in a medicine…she said they will fall out there on their own heh? after doing all this and cleaning with the syringe she had the nerve to ask me was I alright. She was poking and i was laying there mouth open wid sreechin in pain….am I all right OMG lol! She didn’t give me any syringe.

    *LOL* No problem. …
*LOL* No problem. Just remember to

    1) Irrigate out that socket regularly, and
    2) Be careful about going too long on the non-steroidal anti-inflammatories (NSAIDs), because prolonged use of them has been shown to cause gastritis and ulcers, which are a whole other level of pain and hellish misery.

If you can, consider taking some vitamin E softgels (without stearate) to accelerate the healing process.

  12. i just got a wisdom …
i just got a wisdom tooth out 4 hrs. ago and when the anesthetic wore off the pain hit. being an inquisitive sob and somewhat of a masochist, i decided not to take any painkiller pills prescribed… worse freakin 15 min. of my miserable life… after downing the pills and moaning around the house for another 30 minutes the pain has subsided and now i’m surfing the web to see if i’m the only putz to be going thru this. anyways, thanks for making me crack a laugh and causing some additional pain.

    Well, I envy you. …
Well, I envy you. You must be like Wolverine, with his mutant super-healing factor.

  14. No friend I noticed …
No friend I noticed after your video that they provided no cleaning utensil. My dentists assistant realized I was going to be arrogant about it and said that I should stick to my regular diet and that rinsing my mouth would be sufficient. Im not bleeding, pretty sure im clotted up, just ate some shrimp scampi too…

  15. TheLogicJunkie on March 11th, 2010 at 2:40 am

    Yeah… some people …
Yeah… some people bleed and clot better than others. Apparently I don’t bleed very well. I have thick blood or something.

But that’s deranged for you to be eating cheeseburgers and smoking and all that. Do you think you’re Superman? Also, they should have given you a little squirty thing to point back at the sockets and flush them out clean.

  16. What a back alley …
What a back alley dentist. I came home after getting three wisdom teeth taken out and ate 2 double cheeseburgers with some nuggets on the side. Im really nervous about this dry socket thing. Its the day after the pocedure is there anything I should look out for? I even smoked too. Not a whole cigarette. Are some people prone to this more than others?

    Uch… I had the …
Uch… I had the mother of all dry sockets, it turns out. thing lasted three or four weeks.

The same thing happened when I had a minor surgery in college: it took forever for me to heal, and the surgeon used too much suture in stitching me back, and the excess string actually stuck out of my body through the tiny hole, which was the last section of the incision to heal.

    …Wolverine, I ain’t.

    Dude. Sorry for the …
Dude. Sorry for the pain… But.. Awesome video!

So, you did in fact have a dry socket right?

    How long did it last?

  19. TheLogicJunkie on March 11th, 2010 at 2:40 am

    *L* No problem.

    *L* No problem.

Yeah; true consciousness is demonized in this society… You’re supposed to rely on cosmic la-la to fix problems for you. All things magically happen because of your “attitude”, or lack thereof.

    *rolls eyes*

  20. Do you know how …
Do you know how funny you are, or should I saw entertaining? Anyway, I totally agree with the bit at the end about making enemies to get things done the right way! I often feel like people I have to deal with in situations like this think I’m being a b***h but I NEED THE CORRECT INFORMATION IN ORDER TO HELP MYSELF! Thanx for being here…

  21. TheLogicJunkie on March 11th, 2010 at 2:40 am

    Hahahahaha…. Are …
Hahahahaha…. Are you serious??? It really states that???

Hahahahaha… I’m sorry, but that’s just black comedy to me. It really goes to show you that there really is never any such thing as an “expert”; there are only dedicated students.

Thanks for posting that comment… you really made my day. Hahahahahah

  22. ya i had one out 3 …
ya i had one out 3 days ago, in the paper work it states “this is not an “exact science” we are not responsible for bla bla bla” what the fuck? Doctors just treat you like man, just another shady contractor, fuckn you in the ass.

  23. Wow! You went to a …
Wow! You went to a total hackjob dentist. I had my wisdom teeth out, and for one thing, they were kind enough to put me out. But then, I’m the “likely to freak out” and “hates blood” type. Secondly, when I woke up with a mouth full of cotton, my discharge instructions included how to care for the stitches. There were no holes in my mouth.. they sewed those holes shut. I’ve never heard of this “open wound after wisdom tooth extraction” thing. I’m sorry you went through this… :(

  24. thanks for the info …
thanks for the info. My paper didn’t say either!

  25. Sounds like you’re …
Sounds like you’re dentally unstable! So, do you see now?!? A #4 buzzcut doesn’t sound so painful now, does it?!?!?
