What harm can oral surgery due to a pregnancy if you were not aware of being pregnant?

I had oral surgery on Friday! I was put to sleep for the extractions and given pain meds. I found out on Tuesday that I was pregnant! Now I am scared for the baby!

In the past much dental and medical procedures were performed on women who did not know that they were pregnant. The vast majority of babies were fine and there were no problems. You can get more information from your OB doctor. I would also not take the pain meds and try to get by on Tylenol. I wouldn’t worry.

  1. stop taking the meds if you still are! talk to the surgeon/dentist that prescribed them if they are safe for a baby. Your baby should be fine though. I was 7 months pregnant and had a tooth extracted.. I went under. They knew about the pregnancy. My baby is ahead in development for his age so no harm done. Your baby should be fine too. If you are still concerned talk to your ob/gyn about it.
