last time I went to a DDS (in the Phoenix area) I specificly told “her” that I did not want amalgam filling as I already have too many and was going to have them removed, when the filling was done and I got home and looked in the mirror – yep you guessed it – AMALGAM …. AAARGH what am I supposed to do , I have been getting these types of fillings since 1975, and have 10 of these, I am now 40 years old and I’m sure they are doing me harm.

Really? I didn’t know that. But dentristry has come a long way. I think the main problem is DMO’s don’t explain the options or pros & cons of amalgam clearly. They just recommend Amalgam because it lasts longer. It should be explained. I remember an elderly couple who told us that after they had their mercury replaced their health improved drastically. Maybe there is truth to what they say.

Well if this is true I don’t think even all the DDS know. I know 3 who had no problems using amalgam even getting an amalgam filling themselves. They must believe it does no harm. Just to name one of the many side effects. Go watch Linda Brocatto’s video where she explains how her life was ruined at 23 and until she got her amalgams removed the doctors told her she was doomed. She is not well but she has stopped declining and now has some hope of recovery.

The reason I pointed out the filling was 25 years old is because a new filling always leaks truly enormous amounts of mercury. Dentists even agree with that statement but then they claim the amount tapes off.
So where are their measurements or even videos?

If the manufacturers claim that their new improved amalgam leaks less then they should be willing to tell us how much they leaked before and how much they leak now. Sadly they are silent.
On the other hand Dr. Boyd Haley (Medical Veritas 2007) asked 9 dentists to make up 10 fillings each from 4 manufacturers and pack them into a small round mold and then measured the amount of mercury released into water daily with NO stimulation. About 10µg per spill per day with lots of variation.

All mercury/silver fillings leak substantial amounts of mercury. The leakage is quite sizable during placement or removal but continues throughout the life of the person regardless of age.
To date I know of no research that has ever found significantly less leakage between say a 5 year old filling and a 25 year old filling. They all leak and the amount increases with stimulation likem hot fluids or brushing.

What if the fillings aren’t as old. These are 25years old right?. They do tell you that old fillings leak they just don’t make it sound dangerous. Maybe they NEED to tell you if they’re old fillings they’re dangerous and a consent sheet should apply. Some DDS don’t recommend it b/c it takes off too much tooth structure some say it lasts longer than composite. It is safe yes but they must keep it so. No contact Class V fillings& replace them every 20 yrs & when they break to avoid leakage.

Thanks for the vit&min advice. Today, 98.4 deg by 4:30pm and low motivation. Cracked open&ate a bunch of brazil nuts (supposed to be high in selenium) and got to 99.1 deg in less than an hour, with enough motivation to go for a 4.5 mile walk in the dark in wet snow (very unusual for me, lately) on a path far from neighborhoods. For part of that, I belted out some songs (no one to hear me).
I’m looking into teaching English in Thailand (or similar) where I can get the amalgam removed.
