How long do anesthetics last after wisdom teeth extraction?

In other words, how long will I be acting funny due to drugs after I get my wisdom teeth removed?

hey i got 2 wisdom teeth pulled out yesturday :S
i got it done at about 2pm and the local anesthetic lasted (i mean like fully dissipated) at around 6pm or so. so about 4 hours.
the doctor will probably give u some tylenol 3 as mine did and it helped alot.

the pain was almost gone today. still a little bit of pain but advil surpressed it.

  2. 3 to 10 hours depending on the person, when i had mine out it took me like 4 and a half hours before i was back to normal, too my friend like 8, but hes a bit of a wuss :)

  3. It depends on what they use. When I came to, I was really shaky and just wanted to sleep – I slept for about 3 hours and then I was fine.

    The local anesthetic can last longer – a lot of oral surgeons will use a long-acting one. I was numb for about 12 hours.

    Your oral surgeon can give your more information about your specific case and what he’ll do and the type of anesthetic he’ll use.

  6. I had almost no effect from the medication besides an absence of pain.

    Some nurses will say that after anesthetics people can behave more aggressive that usual, more in men than women.

    Chances are you will sleep through most of the first day.

  8. Most numbness from local anesthetics will last around 4 hours. If you are going under general anesthesia, you will feel sleepy the rest of the day most likely. But the actual numbness from local anesthetic is usually about 4 hours. They will most likely give you some form of pain medication as well.
